In the Chosen Work Sample, an article about Soylent and it’s creator, Rob Rheinhar, called The End of Food by Lizzie Widdicombe and my own experiences were used for evidence in this paper. I used both sources to illustrate my opinions on food and what values it holds to me. My experiences, shown through both personal stories and an essay about my favorite meal, showed what I liked and what my thoughts on food are. The End of Food is mostly used as a counterargument that I address throughout the paper.

Barclay’s formula, a formula used to integrate multiple sources into one paragraph, is utilized in the first body paragraph of this paper to compare my thoughts to Rheinhart’s. The paragraph starts by introducing the general idea of the paragraph, the importance of the taste of food to me and how Rheinhart’s views do not fit into mine. A quote from my favorite meal essay depicts how I like the food my mother makes with the amount of flavors and spices she puts into my favorite meal. I then go on to explain that this attitude towards my favorite meal is universal to how I enjoy all of my food. I then use a transition to integrate the second source into the paragraph and write how Soylent is purely used for utility and does not meet my standards for taste and flavor. This paragraph shows how I can combine material from two different sources to create a paragraph that is focussed on one central idea.
